David’s Garden Consultancy Service offers statewide home vegetable garden consultancy to beginner gardeners, seasoned growers and anyone looking at starting their own garden at home.

David can provide advice and recommendations regarding your vegetable garden;

  • soil amelioration (testing, preparation and cultivation of soils)
  • best site and situation
  • seeds and seedlings suitable for your region
  • when to sow, plant and harvest
  • protection from wildlife
  • pests and diseases
  • protective cropping i.e. growing in glasshouse (excluding hydroponics)

David will travel statewide within Tasmania.

David has 35+ years’ experience in horticulture. He began part time work at a large retail garden centre, excelling in plan knowledge and customer service whilst studying for his City and Guilds diploma.

He commenced further tertiary study in 1986 at Writtle College. After graduating from Writtle College in 1989 with a Higher National Diploma in Landscape Management, he began working in horticulture. His experiences include landscape history and design, build, and project management. He managed his own landscape company in England, called Alpha Landscapes. He has worked in Parks and Recreation in local authorities including conservation and ecology management and operations, maintenance of sporting facilities (gold courses, cricket wickets, bowling greens), construction and maintenance of swimming pools.

In 1999 he switched hats to become Resource Management Officer at Capel Manor College in Hertforshire. He owned and managed Inspirations Garden Centre in Exeter, Tasmania for 12 years from 2005 – 2017.
